About the Rebrand
A New Era for Midgley Studio
Where to begin, Midgley Studio has recently undergone a significant rebrand. For those who have followed my work over time, you will know this is not the first evolution of the logo. In fact, it is probably close to the tenth iteration. This time, however, it is not just another redesign for the sake of change. It is a considered addition to the existing identity, something that builds on what is already there rather than replacing it entirely.
This shift has been less about appearance and more about alignment. The studio has grown, the work has developed, and the direction has become clearer. The branding needed to reflect that.
More Than a Logo Change
This update represents a clear step forward. It signals a new era of my work, one that leans more intentionally into the professional and strategic side of the business.
In the past, a lot of my focus was on experimentation, exploring styles, and pushing creative boundaries. That process has been important in shaping how I work today, but this next phase is about applying that experience with more precision. The goal is no longer just to create visually strong outcomes, but to deliver work that has purpose, clarity, and real value.
The updated identity supports this by being more refined, more consistent, and more adaptable across different types of work. It is designed to grow with the studio rather than be replaced again.
Rethinking the Website
Alongside the branding update, I have completely redesigned the website. This was not a surface level refresh. It involved stepping back and reviewing everything.
A large portion of older work has been removed. This was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary one. The intention is to ensure that everything shown represents the current standard of work and the direction I am moving in.
The structure of the site has also changed. Case studies are now presented within a blog style layout. This allows each project to be explored in more depth, rather than just displayed. It creates space to explain the thinking, the process, and the outcomes behind each piece of work.
This approach keeps everything organised while also making the experience more engaging and easier to navigate.
Mission and Approach
At its core, Midgley Studio is built around clarity, intention, and consistency.
Design is approached as a problem-solving tool rather than just something visual. Every project starts with understanding the purpose behind it. What is it trying to achieve, who is it for, and how should it perform.
There is a strong focus on communication throughout the process. Clear direction, honest feedback, and structured workflows are all part of how projects are delivered. The aim is to make the experience as straightforward and effective as possible for both sides.
Attention to detail also plays a key role. Small decisions add up, and taking the time to refine those details is what separates average work from something that feels considered and complete.
Values That Shape the Work
The studio is guided by a set of values that influence every project:
-
Keeping ideas simple, direct, and easy to understand. Whether it is branding, content, or communication, everything should have a clear purpose.
-
Building systems that work across multiple touchpoints. Strong design is not just about one output, it is about how everything connects.
-
Creating work that lasts. Trends come and go, but the focus is on building something that remains relevant over time.
-
Working closely with clients to ensure the outcome reflects both the vision and the objectives of the project.
-
Continuously improving, refining processes, and pushing the quality of work forward with every project.
Looking Ahead
The direction of Midgley Studio is now much more defined. The focus is on taking on more considered projects, working with clients who value thoughtful design, and continuing to develop a stronger strategic approach.
There is also a greater emphasis on content and storytelling. Not just showing finished work, but sharing the thinking behind it. This blog format is a big part of that, acting as a space to document projects, insights, and ongoing development.
Moving forward, the aim is to build a body of work that is not only visually strong, but also meaningful and effective in what it delivers.
A More Intentional Studio
This rebrand is not just a visual update. It is a shift in mindset, in standards, and in direction.
Everything now feels more aligned. The identity, the website, and the work itself are all moving in the same direction. It is a more intentional version of Midgley Studio, built with long-term growth in mind.
This is the next step.
